Our Story

In my early twenties, I developed a keen interest in self-sufficiency, inspired by the wealth of information available from homesteading blogs and YouTube channels in the US. During this time, I came across Nigerian Dwarf Goats—a breed well-suited for small-scale farming due to their ability to birth multiple kids and produce high-quality milk with rich butterfat content, not to mention their charming patterns and colours. Given my intolerance to cow's milk, they seemed like the perfect fit for me.

However, it wasn't until nearly eight years later that I seriously considered that I could actually breed them this side of the pond. During the pandemic, I met Steven, who has farmed all his life, by this time I had a proper smallholding and our passion for livestock breeds and being responsible for where our food comes from saw us through our differing in opinions in how to actually achieve that!

Steven, having recently fulfilled his own dream of opening a Farm Park, encouraged me to dream big and have a real go at importing Nigerian Dwarf Goat embryos from the States. We joked about opting for an old-fashioned dowry, investing in goats instead of hosting a grand wedding.

Fast forward two years since our initial contact with breeders overseas, and our journey has been filled with its fair share of challenges. From medication shortages and failed attempts to unexpected disruptions like a noisy bonfire night spooking our goats, we've encountered obstacles along the way. Perhaps the most nerve-wracking moment was when a frozen tank got stuck in customs, coinciding with the busiest weekend of the year at the Farm Park
